Brisbane recruit Oscar Allen says he'll be looking to add his leadership to his new club's front half following his switch from West Coast.

Allen was one of the big talking points throughout 2025 when it came to light that he would explore his free agency rights.

The co-captain of the Eagles was caught meeting with Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell in April, and the rest of the competition quickly learned he was gettable, as the Lions entered the race for his signature.

The reigning premiers were on the lookout for a Joe Daniher replacement, who retired from the AFL following his flag triumph at the end of 2024, and saw that Allen was the perfect successor.

One of the league's worst-kept secrets, the full forward was making the move from Western Australia to Queensland, which resulted in the Eagles receiving Pick 2 as compensation.

"It feels different in new colours but I'm super excited about it," Allen said.

"They're such a mature senior group here at Brissie who have had a lot of success, so I just want to help that in any way I can, and really contribute to going forward at the football club."

Allen will join the likes of Logan Morris and Ty Gallop as emerging young forwards, and will team up with Eric Hipwood.

Both Morris and Gallop are premiership players at the Lions, with the former claiming two flags in 45 games.

"The whole crew are really exciting ... and hopefully I can complement them in any way," he said.

"When you look at the talent that they have there and also the calibre of the young players who are probably still growing into the game, to see what they've been able to achieve the last couple of years from afar has been outstanding.

"I'm hoping to add to that in any way I can. A little bit of leadership potentially in the front half as well, and then off-field, just to be a part of the culture."
