Geelong was on the brink of a shock defeat against West Coast on Sunday, but a steely and "calm" Chris Scott re-aligned his men to the matter at hand.
A plucky Eagles outfit remained within touching distance of the visitors at Optus Stadium, drawing the margin back to one goal early in the final term.
Despite the sluggish start in the final 20 minutes, Scott's three-quarter time message helped reinvigorate the last-quarter specialists, inspiring a seven-goal to two period that resulted in a 43-point victory.
The Cats are the competition leaders for final quarters, claiming the chocolates in 11 out of the 12 periods. The Round 3 clash against Brisbane was the only blemish.
Midfielder Tom Atkins lifted the lid on what Scott had to say, and although posing as a fiery character, was able to draw on one of the strengths of the side.
"Scotty never shows his frustration; it is always a very forward-looking mindset," Atkins said.
"We still had a quarter of footy left, and he was just reminding us that we are one of the best fourth quarter teams in the competition.
"It is not just going to happen; we need to go out there and get it done, and that is what eventuated.
"It is nice to have a calm mindset knowing that if you put in the effort, you can execute."
The tackling machine, who recently penned a new deal until the end of 2027, has been the catalyst for many of Geelong's momentum swings with his contested and defensive efforts.
Recording a league-high 119 tackles, some would say Atkins inspires his teammates to do the same, especially in the front half.
All-Australian small forward Tyson Stengle also leads the competition in tackles inside forward 50, claiming 26 thus far, pipping North Melbourne's Paul Curtis, Carlton's Lachie Fogarty and Atkins himself.
"I have had nothing to do with that, that is all Tyson," the 29-year-old said.
"It is great, he is such a talented offensive weapon, and to be able to add that to his game just helps us win games. I think it is a credit to his team mindset.
"I know the forwards place a high emphasis on having at least one tackle a game, he is definitely leading the way down there.
"I think it has been missed by the majority of people. Today's game, those offensive moments and awesome goals are what most people love seeing.
"But when Tyson is doing that sort of stuff and creating goals for others, it is highly valued by his teammates."
The Cats will play host on Saturday in a mouth-watering contest against Gold Coast at GMHBA Stadium.
