Several melees have erupted during a fiery North Melbourne intra-cub match on Friday afternoon.

Luke McDonald and Lindsay Thomas started the first scuffle as Thomas went for a mark inside 50.

The former was unimpressed with McDonald's attempted spoil, which collected him high, with the two involved in a tangle, before a number of teammates intervened.

Former captain Andrew Swallow was then involved a bigger scuffle, which began after he was dumped into the turf head first by ruckman Brayden Preuss.

Swallow was less than impressed and remonstrated with Preuss. That began a melee which involved around a dozen players in the middle of the ground.

McDonald looks to have his sights set on having a big impact this season, with the youngster also involved in a heated tussle with Shaun Higgins last month during a practice match.

For the record, today's match, which was a City v Country game, was won by County, 90-60.
