Demons forward Bayley Fritsch is sweating the MRO's grasp after laying a dangerous tackle on Geelong's Jake Kolodjashnij during Thursday night's defeat to the Cats.

The tackle occurred during the last quarter of action at GMHBA Stadium, with it appearing that Fritsch may have orchestrated the infamous 'double-action' within the tackle, as the adjudicating umpire ultimately paid a free kick against Fritsch.

A grading of careless conduct with medium impact and high contact from the MRO would result in a one-game suspension for the prolific Melbourne goal-scorer.

Channel 7's Tom Browne reported on the incident post-game, noting it could be a close call for Michael Christian with regards to deciding whether or not there is excessive force.

"This has become dangerous tackle lotto, as we've seen," said Browne.

"I don't reckon there's excessive force or a slinging motion there, maybe excessive force, but it would have to be borderline, wouldn't it?"

Demons senior coach Simon Goodwin, commenting post-game on Thursday, didn't particularly know what to make of the incident, noting that Kolodjashnij was quick to get back up after the free kick was paid against Fritsch.

"Yeah, don't know, it was a free kick, he (Kolodjashnij) bounced up, don't know, we'll have to wait and see on that one," Goodwin said.

Any decision from the MRO on Fritsch will come on Friday evening, with Melbourne's next match fixtured for next Sunday afternoon against GWS in the Northern Territory.
