Melbourne star Jack Viney is a late out for the Demons in their clash against North Melbourne today.

Channel Seven's Tom Browne reports Viney experienced foot soreness in yesterday's training session and will not be risked in the clash against the bottom of the table Kangaroos.

Viney will be replaced by 22-year-old Oskar Baker who will play his second game for the season.

Baker has played 13 games across three seasons since being drafted with pick 48 in the 2017 National Draft.

Viney's absence is a blow for the Demons who can go a game clear on top of the ladder if they beat the Kangaroos today.

The 27-year-old has averaged 21.4 disposals and seven tackles in five games in 2021.
