Melbourne forward Kade Chandler hasn't held many conversations regarding his future with the club, instead just focusing on his football week-to-week.

Chandler is one of the more improved Demons under the new direction of Steven King, but comes out of contract at season's end as an unrestricted free agent.

It comes during a time of turbulence at the Demons, with CEO Paul Guerra moved on from the top job at the club after only seven months in the role.

"At the moment, I'm just concerned about playing footy and taking it week-by-week. When the contract stuff starts, I'm sure it's going to take care of itself," Chandler told foxfooty.com.au.

"I haven't had too many conversations about it thus far, but that'll take care of itself later in the year."

Chandler hails from South Australia, and will no doubt be considered by Port Adelaide and Adelaide as a potential option, especially given his free agency status.

The 26-year-old was drafted as a rookie ahead of the 2019 campaign from Norwood, and was born in Charra (584km north-west of Adelaide).

The classy left-footer has played 86 games for Melbourne, and has missed two matches since the start of the 2023 season.

Teammate Tom Sparrow is also a player of interest to the South Australian clubs, with the Power also understood to be considering making a play for the midfielder.

Sparrow is an unrestricted free agent, like Chandler, and would not require a trade to be coordinated if he wished to depart.

The Demons have a large list of contract decisions to make, with 19 players without a deal beyond 2026.

Premiership duo Christian Salem and Bayley Fritsch are tipped to stay, with the latter understood to be working on a three-year extension.

Veterans Jake Melksham, Tom McDonald and Tom Campbell will consider their playing futures, although Campbell is considering retirement ahead of the Mid-Season Draft due to neck issues, which could open a list spot.
