Melbourne is facing legal action from former player Steven May.
On 14 July, May served the club, coach Steven King, former chief executive Paul Guerra and footy boss Alan Richardson for a breach of privacy.
It was reported on Channel 7's The Agenda Setters that May would lodge a claim which is headed to court, but Melbourne does not believe it has a case to answer.
May retired from the AFL in early March.
It follows a February 5 meeting between Guerra, Richardson and players and wives.
Guerra has since departed the club while it was announced this week Richardson would leave at the end of the year.
Sachi Dade, the wife of May, sued for breach of privacy and was paid out a six figure sum, but while the club was willing to settle with her, it was reported the club would fight this claim.
The club apologised for divulging personal and sensitive information about Ms Dade.
The fresh legal action comes amid a brilliant 2026 on-field for Melbourne, which is in contention for the top six under first-year coach Steven King, with a rejuvenated list taking the league by storm.
