Former Bomber Dean Solomon has been brought into recent discussions over a potential return to coaching.
The former Suns assistant and caretaker coach has reportedly received a call to action from former teammate and current GWS interim coach Mark McVeigh, according to SEN.Â
Solomon hasn't been involved in the AFL since being let go by the Suns in 2020 with two years remaining on his contract in what was a controversial move from the club.
The reasoning behind the cut was stated to be due to the club attempting to fix financial issues brought upon by COVID.
If Solomon was to return to a coaching position at the Giants, he would be accompanied by familiar faces in former Essendon staff James Hird and Craig Jennings as well as McVeigh.
Solomon recently expressed his approval over McVeigh's appointment as interim coach, stating he was keen to see his former teammate get to work.
Can’t wait to see what Mark Mcveigh will do with the @GWSGIANTS for the remainder of 2022..
Is a Great human.
Players hold him in the highest regard.
Will do it his way, all in & the stakes will be high. #competitor #allaboard 💪— Dean Solomon (@SollySolomon) May 11, 2022
Before his coaching stint at the Suns, Solomon was a premiership player at Essendon, playing 209 games for the red and black.
McVeigh has been handed the keys for the remainder of the Giants' season on a caretaker basis, with the club now beginning their search for a new senior coach.
The Giants assistant could be one of several candidates in contention to replace Leon Cameron as senior coach, with a lengthy process set to ensue.
