Collingwood coach Craig McRae has jumped in to support outgoing Pies forward Bobby Hill after he was the victim of a vile social media attack.
Hill took a screenshot of the racist and explicit remarks he received via Instagram and shared it to his story.
Zero Hanger has decided not to show the message he received.
Hill and the Pies are close to formalising an exit for the Norm Smith Medallist.
"I'm sorry to hear that if this is the case," McRae said following the 25-point loss.
"Bobby, our thoughts are with you. Not just for Bobby. What's going on? World's a crazy place at times, isn't it? I don't do social media, so bear with me, but I did look onto a website where it had feedback, and feedback is unbelievable.
“It's just a cesspool for people just to vent. I find it fascinating that that's actually something that people would be interested in. But, if Bobby's listening out there: I'm sorry to hear that's the case. We'll always love him; it's sad to hear that.”
Collingwood and Bobby Hill have come to terms on an exit, with the Norm Smith Medallist to depart as a delisted player, meaning he will qualify as a delisted free agent.
It is understood Hill is keen to continue playing at a third club, with sides in Queensland and Port Adelaide floated as potential landing spots.
The former Giant had a contract until the end of 2030 worth around $750,000 per season.
Hill hasn't played an AFL game this year. He featured in the VFL three times but failed to consistently show up to training.
Collingwood president Craig Kelly also recently spoke on Hill's exit.
“We continue to work through the last bits of that … we think we have done the right thing by him,” Kelly said to the Herald Sun.
“All I would say is that the amount of energy and work that (footy boss) Charlie Gardiner, (key executive) Susan Harper, our doctors, our psych and our people have worked through to support and coach (Hill) has been outstanding.
"I hope he plays somewhere else at some point. We hope in time that he wants to come back (to Collingwood) and be a part of a premiership reunion.”
