Following a petition that saw fans ask for Brendan Fevola to make a return to the AFL next season and play for Collingwood on Change.org earlier in the week, Pies president Eddie McGuire has responded to the news.

McGuire says there's no room for Fevola at Collingwood, jokingly stating the former Carlton and Brisbane forward wouldn't even fit through the doors.

"Fev sticking his head in yesterday saying he should make a comeback at Collingwood… I got my coat pulled here yesterday,” McGuire said on Triple M this morning.

"No - not for him there’s not!" McGuire said when when Mick Molloy asked if he could find a spot for him in the forward line.

"Couldn’t wedge him between the sticks. Big Fev at the moment…he’s fat."

Initially Fevola responded to the petition light-heartedly, but after a chat with his wife over dinner, came to the conclusion that he could make an impact at the Pies next year should an offer come across his desk.

"I'm serious. I'll be 37 by the time next season starts and not being arrogant or thinking I'm amazing but if I got fit, I think I could still play," Fevola said.

"I think I could play better than some of the blokes that are out there now.

"Collingwood is a huge club, one of the biggest in Australia (and) they get young kids. (People) always talk about age 'oh you're too old' but at the end of the day I've been to the well and back so I could go onto the big stage.

The Pies have struggled in the forward line so far this season, and have kicked more goals than only Carlton over the first five rounds, despite having the fifth most inside 50s of any side.

The petition believes the 623-goal forward could rectify Collingwood's problems, even though Fevola would be 37 next year.
