Former Carlton and Brisbane full forward Brendan Fevola believes he could make an impact at Collingwood next season following a petition circling online that has asked for the 36-year-old to fix the Magpies' goal kicking problems.

The petition on Change.org has had 291 signatures so far, and Fevola got wind of the movement overnight, and answered the call on radio on Thursday morning.

"I sort of laughed at it at the start but then I got thinking," Fevola said on Fox FM.

"This is for now so obviously it can't happen because they've got their list. You can't come in and play and I'm as fat as a house and not very fit. I get puffed walking down the hallway. So obviously it can't happen today.

"But I sat down with Alex last night having a beverage over dinner and I said: 'Seriously, if I started training now, they got me fit, I got myself fit, and went there and did a pre-season, go on a rookie list, have a chat with Eddie ... it would be for the start of next year so I've got nearly a full season to get myself fit, which I can do because I've been fit before.

"Go on a rookie list, cos them $30 or $40 (thousand), cost them no money.

"They put me on a rookie list, I play twos (VFL), they get an injury and I go up into the ones. What a story.

"I started my career wearing a Collingwood jumper for Narre Warren. Imagine, the way I exited the game, which is obviously not the way I wanted to exit because I got sacked twice, all those young, stupid things are in the past. Come back and play a season of AFL, why not? End my career in a Collingwood jumper."

Collingwood slumped to their fourth loss already this season after going down to Essendon on ANZAC Day, and now sit in 13th on the ladder with a reckon of 1-4.

The Pies have won the inside 50 battle three times this season, but have failed to capitalise on their chances, as Collingwood have a league-worst 33% conversion rate from set shots in front of goal.

Darcy Moore, Mason Cox and Jesse White are all struggling to impact games this season with the latter two players in and out of the side each week, so Fevola believes he could fill the void next season, should the Pies need him to.

"I'm serious. I'll be 37 by the time next season starts and not being arrogant or thinking I'm amazing but if I got fit, I think I could still play," Fevola said.

"I think I could play better than some of the blokes that are out there now.

"Collingwood is a huge club, one of the biggest in Australia (and) they get young kids. (People) always talk about age 'oh you're too old' but at the end of the day I've been to the well and back so I could go onto the big stage.

"I don't get nervous. These young kids (go) out there, they get a little bit nervous.

"If there's 60,000 people there I'll kick six, if there's 70,000 I'll kick seven. If you play for a crap team and there's 10,000 there I'll only kick one because you want to perform for the supporters.

"I put bums on seats.

"Touch wood, my body is in good nick injury-wise.

"I'd kick 70 goals. I'd kick 70 goals without even training, imagine if I did train."

Fevola kicked 623 goals in his 204-game career that spanned 13 years.
