Essendon great Matthew Lloyd has named the top five forwards in his lifetime.

Speaking on AFL.com.auLloyd believes these fowards that will go down as the best to play the game that he's seen.

Lloyd said: "I'll never forget my first season at AFL football was ANZAC Day, 1995 and Sav put on an absolute clinic in what I believe is the greatest ANZAC Day game we've ever seen, the draw. Sav was so dominant on that day, kicking 8 or 9 goals.

"Sav is underrated I think as a footballer. He kicked over 700 goals and was brilliant for two clubs in Collingwood and North Melbourne."

"One of the greatest kicks the game has ever seen. Long, pretty straight as well and was a better mark that people gave him credit for. Just powerful, big, strong and so sharp on the lead for the size that he had."
