Essendon great Matthew Lloyd has named the top five forwards in his lifetime.

Speaking on AFL.com.auLloyd believes these fowards that will go down as the best to play the game that he's seen.

Lloyd counted down from 5-1...

4. Tony Modra

Lloyd said: "He was the biggest thing since sliced bread in Adelaide I would have thought."

"They called him 'Godra' over there, Tony Modra."

"His ability to sit on heads all the time. I'll never forget the night he sat on Micky Martyn's head at the top of the goal square and kicked ten that night on Micky Martyn. He just made champion full-backs look silly."

"His ability to turn players inside out. Go back, he's a very good kick for goal and what I admire about Modra is he even went to the Fremantle Dockers when they weren't going that well and he still kicked massive bags of goals and just showed the quality of footballer Tony Modra was."
