Essendon champion Matthew Lloyd has revealed the top seven players he’d want kicking for his life on Monday’s Sportsday Radio show.

Lloyd mentioned expected players such as Gary Ablett and Michael Walters but surprised hosts Dwayne Russell and Gerard Healy when he revealed his number one pick.

“Watching Darcy Fogarty… he’s the best kick I have seen in terms of for goal of the modern-day player” Lloyd said.

“His technique is just so simple, beautiful big legs but just kicks through the ball, his timing of the footy it’s so exciting.

“I even brought my son over who’s six and I said ‘watch this guy’s kicking technique’ and my son said ‘any bet he’ll miss’ and he put it through every time so now I’ve got my son kicking straight.”

The Adelaide youngster has only kicked 15 goals in his career which spans over 12 games, but includes a five-goal haul against the Eagles over the weekend.

Other players to feature in Lloyd’s top seven included St.Kilda’s Tim Membrey, West Coast’s Jack Darling, Geelong’s Tom Hawkins and the Western Bulldogs’ Tory Dickson.

Dickson has only kicked 22.8 this year but statistically is in the top echelon of players in terms of goal kicking efficiency with a career tally of 179.61 over the course his 112-game career.

Lloyd also heavily praised Jack Darling’s season, in which he has kicked 50.18, saying he was a certainty for All-Australian.
