The AFL has released it's latest list of free agents for 2021, and with it comes the news of renewed deals for a couple of league stars.

As revealed through AFL.comBrisbane midfielder Jarryd Lyons and Richmond veteran Jack Riewoldt have secretly inked new deals from next year.

Lyons has been instrumental in his side's premiership contention and has thrived this season with and without the aid of reigning Brownlow medallist and teammate Lachie Neale by his side in midfield.

ROARING LYONS: The AFL's unheralded star

The 28-year-old, currently at his third AFL club, has shot into All-Australian discussions given his elite numbers in 2021, averaging 27.75 disposals, 5.5 tackles, 6.42 clearances and 14.17 contested possessions per game.

It is understood that Lyons has triggered a clause in his contract to further his stay with Brisbane and add to his 147 career games.

Riewoldt joins Lyons in being taken off the free agency list, signing a new one-year deal with Richmond to remain at Punt Road for 2022.

That extra term will be the key forward's 15th season at Punt Road after being drafted in 2006.

Now a three-time premiership player and triple Coleman medallist, Riewoldt will extend his decorated career as the Tigers remain well within the premiership frame.

Riewoldt and Lyons now depart an extensive list of stars who are currently unsigned past this season.

Bombers star Zach Merrett, Blues captain Patrick Cripps and Giants midfielder Josh Kelly headline a short crop of restricted free agents, with the likes of Jack Billings, Matt Crouch and George Hewett rounding out the category.

Geelong defender Jake Kolodjashnij was among the aforementioned half-dozen before inking a new deal with the Cats earlier this week.
