Carlton is one of three clubs on the hunt for a senior coach and St Kilda's Corey Enright is in its sights.

Since Michael Voss departed the role of Blues senior coach following Round 9, the club has been assembling a committee to select the club's next leader.

Tasmania and Essendon are the other two clubs currently searching for a senior coach, but the Devils are zeroed in on a coach with previous experience and have already narrowed their focus down to one of Nathan Buckley, John Longmire or Ken Hinkley.

The Bombers aren't as set on only targeting someone with experience, but they are eager for their next senior coach to be an Essendon man. As is the way out in Tullamarine.

Carlton's coach selection panel, made up of CEO Graham Wright, GM of football Chris Davies, president Rob Priestley, former star Greg Williams and advisor Adam Simpson, have decided that going for an untried assistant is the way forward for the club.

Fox Sports has reported that from the list of assistant coaches going for the Blues' role, Enright has emerged as a leading candidate.

The former Cat and now assistant coach at St Kilda was predicted to take over from Saints' senior coach Ross Lyon when the latter was ready to hand over the mantle.

On Friday night, Fox Sports reported that Carlton had met Enright twice already before the 44-year-old had even presented officially to the club.

Other coaching candidates include Fremantle's Jaymie Graham, Geelong pair James Rahilly and James Kelly, Hawthorn's Daniel Giansiracusa and Western Bulldogs' Brendon Lade.

Interim coach Josh Fraser, who is yet to put his name forward despite having a perfect 7-0 record since taking over the reins following Voss' departure, has been spoken about as another strong candidate.

However, despite increased speculation that Enright and Fraser are the leading contenders for the role, speaking on SEN's Crunch Time, Simpson said those reports had no validity.

"I'm really pleased about this process from a Carlton point of view because nothing has got out and something might get out at some stage because the more you talk the more gets revealed, but none of that (about Enright and Fraser being favourites) was true," Simpson said.

"It's not badly (wrong), it's just made up.
"We haven't even started, let alone having a favourite.

"We have met no one twice."
