The Giants have been dealt a major blow for tonight's clash with the Western Bulldogs, with star midfielder Josh Kelly pulling out of the side.

Kelly comes out with calf tightness, with youngster Jackson Hately replacing him in the 22.

Giants General Manager of Football Jason McCartney said the club weren't willing to risk Kelly and expected him to return next week.

“With a five day break between games, we aren’t taken any risks with Josh,” McCartney told the club website.

“At this stage we’re confident he’ll be able for selection next week.

“Jackson Hately has been banging the door down with his training form and we’re confident he’ll be able to play a role tonight.”
