West Coast midfielder Luke Shuey has signed a four-year contract extension, keeping him at the Eagles until the end of the 2022 season.
Shuey, 27, who was already contracted for next season, looks set to remain a one-club player.
His signature is the first major re-signing since the AFLPA and the league yesterday finalised the details of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement.
“It’s really good to get the deal done. I’m super-pumped to sign-on with the footy club,” Shuey said.
“Coming through the ranks as a younger player, you see guys at 26 or 27 sign four or five year-deals and you look on and think ‘Geez, they’re old’. That’s me now.
“I’m getting to the back-half of my career, but hopefully we’ve still got plenty of success ahead and some exciting years coming up.”
General Manager of Football, Craig Vozzo, said the club is delighted to secure Shuey's signature.
“To have someone of Luke’s standing and character effectively commit to the club for the remainder of his career is a wonderful outcome for all parties,” Vozzo said.
“The long-term commitment we are making to Luke is an indication of the club’s regard for him as a person, a player and a leader.
“We are delighted that he will be a part of our football club for at least the next five years as we see him as an integral part of the things we would like to achieve in that time.

Shuey has played 145 games for the Eagles since being selected with pick No.18 in the 2008 National Draft.
