Carlton veteran Dale Thomas has been sent straight to the AFL Tribunal for abusing an umpire.

The Blue will front the Tribunal on Tuesday night, after an incident in the third quarter of Carlton's big loss to GWS.

Richmond will be without Ivan Soldo for their Dreamtime clash with Essendon, after he was handed a one-match ban for striking Hawthorn's James Worpel.

Brisbane midfielder Rhys Mathieson was also handed a one-match ban for elbowing Adelaide's Jordan Gallucci.

Finally, Collingwood's Travis Varcoe has also been handed a one-match ban, for his bump on Saint Ed Phillips.

Sydney's Luke Parker ($2000), North Melbourne's Marley Williams ($2000), Richmond's Tom Lynch ($1500), GWS' Tim Taranto ($1500) and Carlton's Patrick Cripps ($1500) were all handed financial sanctions.
