Port Adelaide defender Hamish Hartlett has suffered a suspected season-ending ACL injury at training on Thursday and will miss the remainder of the season.

The 27-year old injured his right knee during a training drill in Alberton ahead of his side's clash with North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.

โ€œThis is obviously a terrible blow for Hamish and the football club,โ€ general manager of football Chris Davies told the club's website.

โ€œHamish had started the season well and we saw last weekend what a courageous andย ย player he is.

โ€œIt was an innocuous incident that caused the injury. He went to change direction and his leg gave way beneath him.

โ€œWe fear Hamish wonโ€™t be back on the field for some time but no doubt heโ€™ll continue to contribute as a leader of our football club.โ€
