Geelong have made a change to their 22 that was set to take on Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday, with Mark O'Connor withdrawn from the side.

The Irishman was set for just his third career game, although an ankle injury has ruled him out of the contest.

Midfielder Jordan Murdoch replaces him in the 22.

Murdoch played 22 games for Geelong last season, with his last match coming against Richmond in the qualifying final.

He was omitted ahead of Geelong's semi-final win over Sydney, and didn't face Adelaide in their preliminary final loss either.

Jackson Thurlow has been added to the emergencies.
