Carlton coach Brendon Bolton has revealed the Blues will debut four new players during Thursday's season opener with Richmond at the MCG.

The Blues will unveil number three draft selection Paddy Dow, while Matt Kennedy, Aaron Mullett and Jarrod Garlett will make their club debuts.

Kennedy played 19 games for the Giants in two seasons with the club, while Mullett played 85 games for North Melbourne over the past seven years, before joining Carlton as a delisted free agent during the off-season.

Garlett played 17 games for Gold Coast during 2015-16, before heading back home to Western Australia for family reasons.

Richmond have revealed both Dion Prestia and Bachar Houli will miss Thursday's clash.

Prestia will miss with a hamstring injury, while Houli hasn't overcome a calf problem.

The full teams will be revealed at 6.25pm on Wednesday night.
