Western Bulldogs midfielder Lin Jong will miss the rest of the 2017 season after rupturing his ACL against Melbourne on Sunday.

Jong suffered the injury in the opening quarter of the Bulldogs' 57-point loss to the Demons, with scans confirming the club's fears on Monday.

“I’m afraid today that scans have confirmed our fear that Lin Jong has ruptured his ACL,” Head Physiotherapist Chris Bell told the club's website on Tuesday.

“We’re all devastated for Jongy and we’ll put a really strong support network around him.

“He’ll undergo a conventional hamstring tendon reconstruction later this week but we look forward to seeing Jongy back into some football in the early parts of 2018.”

The club has confirmed Jong will opt for a traditional reconstruction before the end of the week.
