"The Brisbane Lions were today informed by Reuben William that he failed a random breath test this morning while on a scheduled day off for the playing group," the statement read on the club's website.

"William informed General Manager of Football, David Noble, of the incident shortly after it occurred.

"The 19-year-old, driving on a probationary license, was alone in the car when he recorded an alcohol reading of 0.031. Queensland law requires a probationary license holder to have a 0.00 alcohol reading.

"William will be required to appear in court in the coming weeks.

"The Club will make no further comment at this time."
