Jordan Lewis has named the two players he thinks are smokies to earn All-Australian blazer this season.

With Toby Greene likely to secure one of the forward pocket spots, the other pocket is still well and truly up for grabs.

Speaking on SEN Breakfast, Lewis believed Hawthorn's Luke Breust and Essendon's Jake Stringer deserved to be in the conversation for the honours.

“I reckon the one lock would be Toby Greene. I think that’s widely accepted. He’s kicked 35 goals for the season and he’s a star,” Lewis told SEN listeners.

“The two I’d like to throw up as potential candidates – Jake Stringer. I just think his season at the moment is unbelievable.

“He’s (kicked) 25 goals, he’s the 11th best general forward in the competition.

Stringer already earned the honour in 2015 in only his third season in the league. He is currently averaging a career high in disposals and is enjoying his best form since joining the Bombers.

“The other one I want to throw up is Luke Breust.

“Because Hawthorn haven’t been going so well … his numbers and his performance this year have been unbelievable.

“He’s the number two general forward in the competition. He’s kicked 26 goals for the season, 67 per cent accuracy, but he’s elite in contested possessions and goals per game.

“As a small forward, that’s hard to do. He’s above average in marks inside 50, forward pressure and tackles.”

Breust is already a two-time All-Australian, earning the honours in 2014 and 2018. The 30-year-old is on track to lead Hawthorn's goal-kicking for the third time in four seasons.

With few forwards banging down the door, the All-Australian forward-pocket spot will likely be decided by the few games of this season.
