Following a tough week for the Silvagni family with the departure of Stephen Silvagni as the club's list boss, things have only gotten worse for the family with both Jack and Ben copping disciplinary action from their teammates after being caught drinking alcohol while being injured.

Drinking while injured is against team rules at the Blues, and the Silvagni brothers had to face co-captains Patrick Cripps and Sam Docherty after it was found out the pair were drinking at a music festival in November whilst being injured.

Jack was forced to help out at four VFL training sessions with Carlton's affiliate the Northern Blues, while Ben had to help out with two sessions.

Both Silvagni brothers accepted they had done wrong when facing the leadership group about the breaching of the rules.

At the time of the incident in November, Jack was dealing with a back injury while Ben was dealing with a quad injury. Both are now back in full training though.

“Both Jack and Ben simply made a bad decision, which they have acknowledged. They did not miss any training as a result of their actions but fully understand the disappointment expressed by their teammates and both were supportive of this decision,” Carlton football boss Brad Lloyd said.

“The sanction imposed is based solely on the standards the playing group are driving and will continue to do so.

“Both Jack and Ben continued to train with the AFL program during the sanction and are now back into full training.”

The penalties for both Silvagni brothers were imposed before the departure of their father from the club.
