Injury has forced GWS into a late squad change ahead of Saturday's clash with Adelaide, with Coleman Medal winner Jesse Hogan to miss the match due to a calf concern.

The Giants have been forced to pull the trigger and remove Hogan from their Round 6 side after he dealt with the matter during the week.

The former Demon and Docker was limited on the track in the lead-up to this week's meeting with the Crows, with his coach confirming a call would be made following Friday's captain's run session.

"It's not un-normal (sic) to see Jesse not train on a six-day break. He manages his body pretty carefully," Adam Kingsley said on Thursday.

"He is a bit sore out of the game (against St Kilda), so we'll just see how that plays out tomorrow."

The Giants confirmed just over 24 hours out from their game that Hogan had been removed from the side, with half-forward Xavier O'Halloran named in his place.

The alteration is the only change made to Kingsley's side that claimed a convincing win over St Kilda at Gather Round last Sunday.

Adelaide have made a pair of changes, with key defender Nick Murray returning from injury while Sam Berry has also come into Matthew Nicks' side.

James Peatling (suspension) and Lachie Sholl (omitted) have made way for the Crows.
