Exciting Gold Coast youngster Izak Rankine has suffered a hamstring injury during his side's JLT clash with the Swans.

The 18-year old had his hamstring iced up at half time, effectively ending his day.

The severity of the injury is currently unknown and it is possible that Rankine was just being rested in the second half.

However, it is less than ideal for the Suns to lose one of it's brightest young prospects after Rory Thompson suffered a ruptured ACL earlier in the week.

Rankine was taken by Gold Coast with the No. 3 pick in last year's draft and excited in his opening JLT hitout against the Bulldogs last week.

In other news, Sydney's Isaac Heeney hurt his ankle in the same clash and sat out most of the second half, while Collingwood's Ben Reid suffered a quad injury in the VFL.
