Essendon have been forced into a late change to their squad for Saturday night's Dreamtime clash, with midfielder Ben Hobbs sidelined with a calf injury.

The club confirmed on Friday that Hobbs will make way for second-year onballer Elijah Tsatas following a fresh setback.

The change also sees rookie Archie Roberts come into the extended side as an emergency.

The Bombers were forced into reshuffling their squad for Round 10 on multiple occasions last week, with Tsatas a late inclusion for Essendon's match against North Melbourne also.

Utility Nik Cox was sidelined due to illness, while star Darcy Parish also missed the match and was replaced by Dylan Shiel an hour out from the bounce for the eventual 40-point win over the Kangaroos.

Cox is one of three inclusions for Saturday night's game against Richmond, with defender Jordan Ridley returning from a quad injury while the Bombers have named forward Nate Caddy for his AFL debut.
