Off-contract Port Adelaide midfield-defender Miles Bergman is reportedly nearing a new two-year contract extension at Alberton Oval.

The pending confirmation will put an end to high levels of rival interest in Bergman, with several sides from his home state of Victoria said to be keen on the in-form Power player.

The likes of Collingwood, Melbourne, St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs are among the clubs who have been tied to Bergman this year ahead of his looming contract call.

According toย AFL.com.au,ย Bergman is said to have decided to remain at Port Adelaide, with the 23-year-old nearing a two-year deal to extend his time in South Australia.

The signing will be a major boost for the Power going into the coming years, which will start Josh Carr's tenure as coach, succeeding Ken Hinkley at the conclusion of the current season.

Bergman has found career-best form in 2025, sharing his duties between defence and midfield to emerge as a damaging ball winner who is also capable of shutting down the opposition's best onballers.

From his 15 games this year, Bergman is averaging 18.8 disposals, 3.6 inside 50s, 3.7 rebound 50s and 456.5 metres gained per match.

In his most recent performance against Carlton at Adelaide Oval, Bergman collected 25 disposals, two goals, eight marks, five clearances and five tackles in a game that saw him poll six coaches' votes.

A two-year extension for Bergman would take him to free agency at the end of the 2027 season, while also putting him in line for interest from Tasmania ahead of the expansion club's first year in the AFL.

The 2027 season would be Bergman's eighth in the top flight with the Power, and would have him close to 150 games for the club if he remains fit.

The expected re-signing of Bergman adds to a strong season of retention signings at Alberton, with Logan Evansย (2028),ย Kane Farrellย (2030),ย Dante Visentini (2027) and Josh Sinn (2027) all re-signing this year.
