Each week we're going to look at five past stars we'd love to bring back into the modern game amid the coronavirus crisis.

This week, we're bringing back five players from Collingwood's past as a gift to their footy-starved fans. We're pretty sure coach Nathan Buckley wouldn't mind these names slotting into the 22 either...

We're not necessarily picking the five best players of years past, but rather those stars still in the memory of Collingwood fans and most likely to deliver some much needed excitement. Or for a variety of other reasons, like players with unfinished business, that fill team needs or would offer good marketing revenue during these tough times.

Any returning player comes back at the peak of their powers, so no arguments about a certain middle-aged former power forward's ability to still kick it 70 metres plus.

And yes, we considered Buckley, but decided the logistics of phoning up to his box in between stints on the bench would be a little too taxing, even for Bucks.

2. Simon Prestigiacomo

There'd be a line to grab an autograph as long as his name if Presti returned at the peak of his powers to the Collingwood backline. Stability in a crisis is everything and that's something Presti always provided in spades.

The loyal clubman put the team ahead of himself in the lead-up to the 2010 Grand Final(s), assessing he wasn't ready to return and giving the job to a young Nathan Brown. Here's hoping a return to the current side might clinch Presti the premiership medal he deserves.
