West Coast small forward Willie Rioli has detailed how ruckman Scott Lycett nearly lost his premiership medal following the Eagles’ Grand Final celebrations.

After West Coast defeated Collingwood by five points in one of the greatest Grand Finals in AFL history, Lycett almost donated his medal to the cleaning staff of the team’s Melbourne hotel.

“Yeah, he did (nearly lose it),” Rioli told Triple M’s Rush Hour.

“I think he left all his gear behind when we flew back to Perth.

“He had his boots on the plane and left his suitcase at the hotel. He was all over the shops the next day.”

And the Port Adelaide defector wasn’t the only Eagle to make the stomach-churning mistake.

“I think a few of the guys did the same thing, left their luggage at the hotel and had to fly back with no luggage,” Rioli explained.

Lycett doesn’t seem to be suffering from any sort of premiership hangover at Port Adelaide in 2019, averaging 17 disposals with his new club sitting at 2-0.
