One millimetre of rain has fallen overnight in Richmond as the city braces for its first wet grand final since Geelong and Collingwood's 2011 decider.
Between 10 and 15 millimetres are expected to fall for the 2026 decider between Brisbane and Fremantle with light rain beginning to fall about 7.30am local time.
After showers in the morning, the rain is expected to be at its worst in the 90-120 minutes before the game, which will cause a watch on the pre-match entertainment, spearheaded by Princess of Pop, Kylie Minogue.
The rain as not stopped a hoard of fans from camping outside the stadium to secure their seats when the public gates open at 10am.
MCC members were greeted with a damp MCG when the members seating opened at 8am.

The expectation of rainfall caused the MCG to request the annual Under-17s curtain raiser featuring the best 2027 AFL Draft prospects off the surface to preserve it for the big event, with that game to instead be played at Whitten Oval.
Outside of the 2011 decider, the only other grand final affected by adverse weather in the past 20 years was the 2009 match between Geelong and St Kilda.
