Hawthorn livewire Jack Ginnivan has appeared to light a fuse with Sydney following the club's qualifying final victory over Fremantle.
Speaking post game on Fox Footy, Ginnivan said the Hawks would play either Sydney, Adelaide or Western Bulldogs at the MCG in the preliminary final.
Brisbane, however, remain a potential opponent if the Swans knock them off on Saturday afternoon.
Brisbane is heavily favoured to defeat Sydney on Saturday due to the Swans missing their quintet of stood down players.
Whether he said it to create tension or due to an oversight is unclear, but Ginnivan has history in speaking publicly about other clubs' finals results.
In 2024, Ginnivan made a comment on former teammate Brodie Grundy's Instagram saying: "see (you) in 10 days".
It came after the Swans won their qualifying final and Hawks won their elimination final and was interpreted as a barb against Port Adelaide, which the Hawks still needed to beat to reach the preliminary final.
The Power went on to beat the Hawks and then Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley taunted Ginnivan post game with an aeroplane gesture, resulting in the coach copping a $20,000 fine.
