Hawthorn has delisted Seamus Mitchell after five seasons and 28 games for the club.

Mitchell first joiend the Hawks via the 2020 National Draft with Pick 29, but was forced to bide his time before making his debut.

The defender received his first opportunity in 2023 against GWS, and played 14 matches under Sam Mitchell.

The following year as the Hawks surged towards the finals, Mitchell added another 10 outings but was left out of the senior side during September.

The acquisitions of Josh Battle and Tom Barrass further pushed the 23-year-old down the defensive ranks, and was seen a measly four times in 2025, two as the sub.

"It's always a difficult time of the year and these decisions are never easy, but we'd like to acknowledge Seamus' contribution to the club," Hawthorn National Recruiting and List Manager Mark McKenzie said.

"He was a respected teammate who showed great resilience and commitment over his five seasons at Hawthorn.

"We wish him all the best for his next chapter."

Mitchell joins James Worpel (Geelong), Changkuoth Jiath (Melbourne), Jai Serong (Sydney), Luke Breust (retired), Sam Frost (delisted) and Jasper Scaife (delisted) as 2025 departures from Hawthorn.

An official call on Bodie Ryan has yet to be confirmed by the club.
