Star Richmond defender Alex Rance is set to miss the club's opening JLT Community Series fixture against Adelaide due to a hamstring injury.

The Herald Sun reports that Rance is suffering from hamstring tendonitis, however, is not far away from resuming full training.

“He (Rance) has been looking after a tendonitis thing that he has had,” Richmond football boss Neil Balme told News Limited.

“He could play (this weekend) if it were a real (regular season) game, but he probably hasn’t done the work to do it (play) yet.

“We are just trying to get him up to speed so he doesn’t have a chronic year.”

Meanwhile, new recruits Dion Prestia, Josh Caddy and Toby Nankervis are all expected to line-up on Friday night.

“They are all all right. We are not going to leave anyone out who is available, so I think they should all be fine (to play),” Balme added.

“Dion has done a little less work than the others, but he is OK.”

The Tigers host Adelaide at Etihad Stadium this Friday night, before matches against Port Adelaide and Collingwood to complete the JLT Community Series.
