GWS has delisted explosive forward Jake Stringer and young defender Conor Stone with a view to redrafting the duo during November's draft period.
The Giants have adopted a strategy by delisting the pair to align with the AFL Draft rules, despite the club's commitment to both players in 2026.
The strategy behind the move is to ensure that the club utilises Picks 12 and 35 in the National Draft.
"This is a common process we need to follow most seasons to prepare appropriately for the National Draft," Giants Head of Talent, Adrian Caruso, said.
"Both Conor and Jake fully understand and support the move, and they're aware of our ongoing commitment to them as players."
However, the pair are available for rival clubs to swoop.
Stone has previously fielded interest from a range of Victorian clubs, including Essendon, before he extended for two years at the end of 2024.
Tactics like this have been done before, with Gold Coast briefly farewelling Hugh Greenwood at the end of 2021, with the commitment of relisting him a few weeks later.
North Melbourne pounced on the opportunity to add the experienced midfielder to their list, signing him for two years, and ultimately denying the Suns a chance to redraft him.
As it stands, there are 10 players, including Stringer and Stone, who have been delisted by their respective clubs, albeit have been told they are part of the 2026 plans.
