GWS has earned a giant boost ahead of its first test of the Adam Kingsley era, signing blossoming midfielder Tom Green to a four-year contract.

Green, 22, first joined the expansion club with the 10th selection of the 2019 AFL Draft before learning his craft under damaging midfield duo Jacob Hopper and Tim Taranto.

Yet, with the pair having traded the Harbour City for Punt Road over the off-season, Green - ironically the grandson of Team of the Century Tiger, Michael Green - has been handed the keys in the Giants' engine room, and looks ready to rise in 2023.

As first reported by Riley Beveridge of AFL Media on Friday morning, the damaging redhead put pen to paper on a deal that will see him remain in charcoal and orange until the cessation of 2027.

Green and the Giants' agreement will see him locked away at Tom Wills Oval until the midfielder meets the markers for free agency.

The agreement is the latest show of faith from club to player this summer, with Green being elevated to GWS' leadership group for the first time last week.

Since making his debut for the league's youngest side in Round 1 of the condensed 2020 season, Green has gone on to represent the Sydneysiders on a further 44 occasions, averaging 21.4 disposals and 4.4 clearances each week.

With the new face of their midfield line locked away, the Giants will now turn their attention to locking away fellow blue-chip kids Finn Callaghan and Lachie Ash in due course.

Both Callaghan and Ash joined the Giants during the first-round of their respective drafts and are on the final years of their deals in Sydney's west.

Green and the Giants will face off against Gold Coast in Blacktown on Saturday, March 4 after returning to Green's hometown of Canberra this weekend for the club's intra-club clash.

GWS will officially open their latest rebuild when playing host to Port Adelaide on Sunday, March 19 at GIANTS Stadium.
