GWS coach Adam Kingsley has indicated Jake Riccardi is set for an extended stint on the sidelines after an incident late in GWS' big win over Brisbane.
The 198cm forward has kicked 14 goals in nine matches this season, and is weighing up whether to re-sign with the club beyond this year.
"I'd imagine it's going to be a normal syndesmosis recovery, which is two months," Kingsley said on Friday.
"It happened in the last 40 seconds of the game, which I think is the fourth time we've lost someone within the last five minutes of a game and the second time inside the last minute.
"That's pretty disappointing for us. He's an important part of our team, as we know."
He has been a mainstay in the Giants' forward line since 2022, but has rival interest as veteran Jesse Hogan and skipper Toby Greene are also uncontracted beyond this year.
He looms as a key pillar for the Giants in the medium term, alongside Aaron Cadman, who is rediscovering continuity after a breakout 2025 and interrupted start to 2026. The former Pick 1 is contracted until the end of 2030.
Kingsley, meanwhile, also expressed excitement at regaining Sam Taylor for his first game of the season after a hamstring injury in the State of Origin game, but conditioned fans not to expect him to be at his best in his first game back.
Taylor replaces the injured Jack Buckley, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury for at least four weeks.
