Gold Coast ruck Max Knobel is under investigation for a homophobic slur in the Suns VFL match against Brisbane on Saturday.
Knobel faces a ban of about four weeks if found guilty.
“The Gold Coast SUNS are aware of an incident involving one of its players in Saturday's VFL match against the Brisbane Lions,” Gold Coast said in a statement.
"The club is currently cooperating fully with the AFL's Integrity Unit as part of an ongoing investigation."
Brisbane first year player Koby Evans was given a four week suspension for a homophobic slur last month.
St Kilda's Lance Collard was initially given a nine week ban for a homophobic slur in a VFL match earlier in the year before it was downgraded to two weeks with two suspended.
"We have been made aware of a matter arising from the VFL Round 11 match between the Gold Coast Suns and Brisbane Lions, which has been referred to the AFL Integrity Unit,” the AFL said in a statement.
Knobel is the son of former AFL player Trent and is yet to make his AFL debut.
