Local junior Jed Walter will remain in Gold Coast colours after inking an extension to keep him on the glitter strip until the end of the 2029 season.
The Palm Beach Currumbin junior fended off rival offers from Essendon to remain at the Suns after the club handed him an AFL debut in Round 2 of the 2024 season against the Bulldogs.
The rising Gold Coast product was Pick 3 in the 2023 Draft, and is enjoying his third year for the Suns, kicking 23 goals in 12 games in 2026, and only missing the scoresheet once during this season.
Walter says he is excited at what the future holds on the Gold Coast and couldn't see himself in any other team's colours.
“I'm stoked to have signed on for a further three years with the club,” Walter said in a Suns statement.
“Having grown up on the Gold Coast, been part of the Academy and now playing at AFL level for the Suns, the Gold Coast is home and there's nowhere else I would rather play.

“I'm excited for what the future holds on the Gold Coast. The recent results haven't been what we've desired, but what we're building here at the SUNS is something I'm really looking forward to continue playing a role in.”
Walter is a graduate of the Suns Academy, which is an elite development pathway program established to unearth some of Australia's greatest talent, and is one of 17 players in the club's AFL roster.
Suns recruiting manager Kall Burns says he is thrilled to keep the local talent at the club.
“Jed has been part of our club for many years now, firstly as a member of our Academy and in our AFL squad for the past three seasons,” Burns said.
“To have a growing number of Gold Coast talents representing the Gold Coast SUNS is something we are very proud of as a football club.
“Jed has continued to take big steps forward in his development as a young forward this season and we're excited to see him continue to grow in the years ahead under Damien Hardwick.”
The Suns sit in 14th with seven wins and 10 losses to its 2026 campaign.
Walter is set to be selected for the Suns to host the Bulldogs in the Gold Coast on Sunday.
