Matt de Boer’s excellent 2017 season has earned him a two-year contract extension with Greater Western Sydney.

The 27-year-old was delisted by Fremantle at the end of 2016 but has now found a new home on the east coast of the country, playing 15 games in 2017, establishing his spot in the side through injury and suspension to the Giants’ other small-to-medium forwards.

"Matt has been an outstanding contributor to our football club since his arrival 12 months ago," Giants football manager Wayne Campbell said.

"He was a valuable player both on and off field in 2017 and he sets an incredibly high standard around the club.

"A consummate professional, the way he prepares and trains leaves us with no doubt he can continue to play a high standard of football for at least another two years.

"Matt was an important leader for us in 2017 and we're thrilled to have him at the Giants again."
