Geelong has been revealed as a potential landing spot for Tim O'Brien after the former Hawk was delisted by the Western Bulldogs in September.
The 29-year-old only managed seven games this season with the Bulldogs playing in a total of 115 matches across his 11-year career. He was a Hawk for nine seasons before making the move over to Bulldogs by exercising his rights as a free agent and making the trip cross-town to Footscray.
As a junior, O'Brien was highly praised for his utility work around the ground thanks also to the fact he could play as a ruck. In his draft class, he was also ranked the third-best in agility.
He was picked up at Pick 28 in the 2012 draft and didn't play in the senior side in 2013 but rather remained developing in their VFL side, Box Hill.
O'Brien was among the delistings at the Dogs in the wake of their 2023 campaign, and could now find a new home at Kardinia Park.
SEN's Sam Edmund revealed on AFL.com.au's Trade Radio that Geelong are looking into O'Brien as a player who could become of great use thanks to his ability to play any role on the ground.
At 193cm and 92kg, he could provide the Cats with strong defensive capabilities as well as the option to play alongside Jeremy Cameron and Tom Hawkins as a big forward.
The option to sign him to the club may also solve the issue of outgoing swingman Esava Ratugolea as a replacement utility player.
Delisted free agency will open over three separate periods, the first opening on Wednesday, November 1.
