David King believes Fremantle's Nat Fyfe is ready to re-emerge as one of the bonafide superstars in the competition in 2018, putting behind leg injuries that have plagued him over the past two seasons.

Fyfe was at his dominant best in Fremantle's loss to Adelaide over the weekend, displaying the strength and physicality that led him to winning the 2015 Brownlow medal.

David King believes Fyfe can become even more dangerous should Ross Lyon shift him to the forward line at times this season, following a similar mould carved our by Damien Hardwick and Dustin Martin last year.

“He could play Centre Half-Back, Half-Back Flank, Centre Half-Forward, whatever,” King said on SEN Mornings.

“But there are very few players in that competition that can play deep forward, they can play Centre Half-Forward, and (also) be the best clearance player in the land.

“That’s virtually what he did yesterday, what he showed.

“I think the scope for this guy is enormous. Fyfe could kick 50 goals this year if he was to play 50% forward, 50% on ball.

“Can they afford for him to be that player?

“Richmond bit the bullet last year and said, ‘We trust those around Dustin Martin to get the job done, and leave Dustin forward when we need the game to be won’.

“And I’m sure Ross Lyon would be thinking we need exactly the same.

“I think Fyfe will spend a major part of his time in the forward line.”

Whether or not Ross Lyon would make the move is yet to be seen, however, the Dockers do possess one of the stronger midfield groups in the competition, featuring the likes of Lachie Neale, Stephen Hill and Michael Walters.
