For the second year in a row, the Fremantle Dockers will spend more time in the air than any other club in the AFL.
It's hardly a surprise that the Perth-based teams spend more time flying than the rest, but the Dockers have outdone their local rivalries yet again with a tick over 80 hours ahead of them in the air during 2024.
That number is reduced from last year however, with the West Coast Eagles a little over three hours behind their 2023 tally. Both teams have benefited from North Melbourne's decision to play a home game in the west.

Of the remaining teams, the Gold Coast Suns, who play two games in Darwin, face the toughest schedule among the Queenslands, travelling almost seven hours more in the air than the Brisbane Lions.
The two Sydney teams come next, with Hawthorn, who travel to Darwin and Perth while also hosting a handful of games in Launceston, face the toughest schedule of the Victorian teams, and more hours in the air than both Adelaideย and Port Adelaide.
St Kilda and Melbourne, who both travel to Darwin, have a marginally better schedule than the Crows, but spend more time in the air than the Power.
The remaining seven Victorian teams also spend no more than 30 hours in the air during the year, with the Western Bulldogs again rounding out the list, although they have a number of road trips to Ballarat not accounted for.
That could leave the Richmond Tigers as the fixture winners for 2025.
All up, teams will require 154 flights to get from venue to venue in 2025, spanning a total of 741 hours in the air across the league.

Note: Flight time relates to the scheduled time of a flight by the quickest route possible, including connections where necessary through the AFL's partner airline, Virgin Australia.
Flights were used for all interstate travel except when Sydney teams travelled to Canberra, the Lions or Suns played an away game on the Gold Coast or in Brisbane, or Melbourne teams travelled to Geelong for example.
It was also assumed that teams would fly home after each away game (with the exception of the Suns playing two games in the space of five days in Darwin, and the Kangaroos playing back-to-back games in Perth), whereas sometimes they may hold a training camp if playing multiple away games in the same area back-to-back.
Gold Coast's flights to Perth and Darwin and Fremantle's flight to the Gold Coast used time to Brisbane airport to avoid connecting flights.
