Fremantle midfielder Nat Fyfe has been deemed available for selection in Round 1 after returning from minor knee surgery.
The two-time Brownlow medallist has had a stop-start pre-season but has returned in full flight in a bid to help secure a maiden premiership at the Dockers.
Fyfe has taken a back seat in the club's midfield in recent years, allowing Andrew Brayshaw, Caleb Serong and Hayden Young to flourish.
However, coach Justin Longmuir still opts to throw the veteran in the midfield, whilst also posing as a dangerous threat up forward.
"He's (Fyfe) obviously coming off a low base at the moment and he still has to continue to build," Fremantle Executive General Manager of Football Joe Brierty said onย SEN.
"He's gone into the main training group (on Wednesday) and the plan is for him to complete full training on Saturday and main training next week.
"We'll continue to have that dialogue with Nat and see how he progresses over the next week.
"He'll be available for selection, and whether that's playing at Peel or whether there's a role for him at AFL level, we'll work through that."
Fremantle will be without Young for the season opener against Geelong as he tends to a minor hamstring issue while ruckman Sean Darcy is aiming to return between Rounds 3 and 5.
Alike Fyfe, Darcy could return through the WAFL as he continues to build into the season.
