Contracted Fremantle youngster Lloyd Meek has reportedly thrown his name in the ring for a potential trade to Hawthorn following the Dockers' ability to land Luke Jackson at the trade table on Monday.

Meek now appears likely to be third in line for the rucking role, behind fellow tall Sean Darcy, meaning the purple and white side is set for the future with both he and Jackson working in tandem.

The lingering contract sitting over Meeks' head may burden his chances of the move coming to fruition as Freo still see the 24-year-old playing his role as a depth player for their WA-based side, per 7 News Perth.

Hawthorn will need to pose a handy offer to Fremantle's list management staff as a return on investment for the services of Meek, who completed a best and fairest winning year in the Peel Thunder colours, being crowned as the recipient of the Tuckey Medal for their WAFL team.

The ruckman, who featured in a handful of games in their senior side, spent the majority of season 2022 waiting patiently in the wings and is now eyeing a future at the Hawks to help fill the shoes of outgoing retiree Ben McEvoy.

If the proposed trade is successful, a dynamic duo may be formed with Meek joining Max Lynch as a counterpart in the shared ruck duties for the brown and gold, whilst Ned Reeves, who stands at a whopping 209cm, will create a headache for the selection committee as another option in that space.

At present, Hawthorn is currently armed with picks 6, 24, 52, 65 and 82 in an effort to complete a deal.
