Former Hawthorn defender Lachie Bramble has been signed by the Western Bulldogs after being delisted by his former club.

Bramble was initially picked up by Hawthorn during the pre-season Supplemental Selection Period prior to the 2021 season. On Monday Bramble was picked up by the Bulldogs in identical fashion, taken in SSP on the window's opening day.

The 25-year-old played 30 games across three seasons at the Hawks, predominantly in the backline. He also featured through the midfield on occasion amongst the youthful core of Jai Newcombe and Will Day. Bramble played 11 games in 2023, struggling to gain consistent game time.

The new Bulldog starred for the Box Hill Hawks in the VFL, averaging 24.5 disposals per game. Despite his consistent output in the VFL, Bramble never maintained his spot in the seniors.

โ€œLachie brings some exciting athletic traits to our program and plays a variety of positions across the midfield and defence,โ€ Bulldogs list manager Sam Power said in a club statement.

โ€œHe has played 30 AFL games throughout his three seasons at Hawthorn and will provide plenty of speed and dash to our squad.

โ€œWe look forward to welcoming Lachie and his family to VU Whitten Oval this week.โ€

At his new club, Bramble will be aiming to break into Luke Beveridge's side in 2024, bringing his talents from the VFL into the senior side.

He commenced pre-season training at Whitten Oval on Monday.
