Delisted Gold Coast Suns player Brad Scheer has pleaded guilty to drug possession after being found with cocaine during a night out on the Gold Coast in December.

Scheer played 13 games at AFL level for Gold Coast between 2017 and 2019 before being delisted at the end of last season.

The 21-year-old faced the Southport Magistrates Court on charges of possessing dangerous drugs on Monday and has been handed a three-month good behaviour bond.

Since leaving the AFL, Scheer joined NEAFL side Southport Sharks, who released a statement noting they were aware of what had transpired and that Scheer will remain with the club.

“We have been made aware of an incident last month involving new recruit Brad Scheer,” the statement said.

“After attending court this week, Brad was ordered to attend a drug education program without a conviction or fine.

“The Sharks have spoken to the player and will continue to support him throughout the process."
