The reigning premiers found it tough outside Melbourne once again on Friday night, after slumping to their third loss of the season, on just their third interstate trip this year.

Richmond have now lost on the road to Adelaide, West Coast and Port Adelaide, with their only wins this season coming in Victoria, proving their reliance on their home ground advantage.

The Tigers join five other clubs this season in failing to win away from home, although the teams in their company shouldn't fill any Richmond fans would any excitement.

The only other five clubs this season to be winless outside of their home state are all in the bottom six, with Gold Coast in 15th the only exception.

Sydney, West Coast, Melbourne and Collingwood are the only teams undefeated outside their home states, while the Swans' record of 5-0 outside of New South Wales sees them as the only side with five true road victories.

Essendon joins the Pies in playing interstate just two times so far this season, while the Suns and Lions have both travelled outside of Queensland six times each.
